A Postcard of Indulgence

Dear Reader,

I hope this postcard finds you well. Last week Rachel (Peaches&Cream) and I treated ourselves to a day of pure indulgence. Just to warn you now, the images to follow should make you both incredibly hungry and incredibly jealous.

After spending a good two hours shopping in Manchester we made our way down to Peter Street's Revolucion de Cuba for a lunch and a nosey round their new £150,000 makeover. Rachel actually won our lunches in a Twitter competition, something she is scarily good at.
Inside illustrates a cocktail of renaissance and rum. Revolucion de Cuba was actually the first nightclub I ever went into in Manchester, back in 2013 - underage and obviously unlawful.

After much deliberation; anyone who knows me knows food is an important matter; I opted for the slow cooked pulled pork sandwich which came married in the perfect union of a rum infused bun and crispy onion pieces. It was delicious in its most superlative form. Rachel chose the pulled beef sandwich, I'm assuming it was just as good as mine as we both left our plates clean. I always take the five minutes of consumed silence as a sign that you've discovered and devoured a marvel.

We then went on to the Printwork's Odeon to see 'The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. Whilst we were there Rachel picked up yet another competition prize she'd won: a 'Fifty Shades of Grey' bag. Yes, I'm being serious. And to top it off when we went to the toilet before the film had started I spotted two small electric pink cardboard rectangles in the corner of my eye. Intrigued, I walked over to the packaging and realised what it once contained. Ladies and Gentlemen, it was vibrator packaging. I found it both hilarious and shocking, why would you choose to open that in a cinema. Well I know why and what they were seeing, but seriously? I hope the owner's are clouded by fifty shades of shame. Seriously Manchester, sort it out.

The film itself is critic proof - I am now talking about 'The Second Best Marigold Hotel'. With the undoubtedly deserved success of the first installment there is nothing a critic can say that will deter audiences away.
Patel's energy, his inability to say the right thing and his dopey grin are highly contagious. As always, it was Dame Maggie Smith who stole the show for me. The film is bright, bold and overwhelming which punctuates it's ending with a bittersweet question mark of uncertainty. Let's just see what happens next.

If I've left you hungry, you can look at Revolucion de Cuba's menu here.
And if you're going to have a look for yourself, make sure you have a Pornstar Rumtini and a dance downstairs.

Elise
